The Senior Instructors pictured below are responsible for three clubs or more within the East Midlands, Dan Maguire is the Regional Instructor and EMK Founder, responsible for overseeing all the clubs within the realms of East Midlands Kickboxing. All three Senior Instructors are full time martial arts coaches who dedicate themselves and their time entirely to their students and classes.

"I began my training with the PKA back in 1997, a complete beginner with no prior experience, I was soon hooked. At blue belt level I was invited to attend Instructor training which really helped to boost my confidence. When I achieved my 1st Dan Black Belt I was helped to open new classes in the area, since then I have managed to bring through and train up my own team of instructors, between us we now run a multitude of high quality classes offering others the chance to experience the same as myself. I can honestly say that my time with the PKA has been the most positive and enjoyable period of my life".

"I joined the PKA in 2003 I wanted to try something new, I was bored of aerobics classes and struggled to motivate myself at the gym, I was looking for something a bit more challenging and exciting. After seeing an advertisement for PKA Kickboxing classes in the local paper I decided to give it a try, before long I was training 4 times a week, completely hooked! I attended the instructor development course at purple belt and went on to assist in classes whilst I trained for my black belt. After training hard and passing my black belt I was offered the chance to take over the Bramcote class which was only a small class at the time, with hard work and 4 years of dedication this class now has over 50 students. Shortly after this I opened the Castle Donington and Coalville classes. I now have my own team of instructors and have expanded into new areas. I really enjoy my role as Area Instructor, I aim to provide classes of the highest standard and make sure that everybody whatever fitness levels or experience they may have can enjoy learning this exciting sport, get fit along the way and have fun making new friends".

"I took up Kickboxing with the PKA in 2003, I initially joined in an attempt to improve my fitness but more importantly to lose a bit of weight, within months I felt like a new man, fitter, slimmer and more confident. I soon increased my training to twice then three times a week, I couldn't get enough of it. When I eventually became an instructor I decided to branch out into the Leicestershire borders and Northamptonshire, at the time there were no PKA classes in these areas, now with the help of my own group of instructors we have developed the area massively with succesful enjoyable classes across the region. These days I work hard to ensure that the clubs are ran professionally offering the students that train with me the best classes I can possibly deliver".

The Club Instructors generally teach once or twice throughout the week under the close guidance of the Senior Instructors. Many of these instructors have been with the association for a long time, they all take their classes and your training very seriously. Assistant Instructors / Coaching Team Members

 

The Assistant Instructors / Coaching Team Members are qualified or semi qualified class helpers who will assist our instructors within their classes, most will go on to become instructors in their own right, for now they are happy to gain experience by helping the instructors in the classes with new starters and junior students. Beware of cowboys - All of our instructors are highly trained in both martial arts and self defence, this goes without saying but they also well versed in customer care and satisfaction. They are all friendly, approachable and professional to the last, above 18 years old and for your peace of mind they all hold the following qualifications :-

 

 

PKA Kickboxing Black Belt 1st Dan (Minimum)

 

Government Recognised Coaching Award

 

CRB Enhanced Disclosure (Police Check)

 

Basic First Aid Training Certification 

 

Martial Arts Instructor Indemnity Insurance

 

Final Instructor Certification from the PKA

 

 

In addition to the qualifications stated above all of the instructors must complete our intensive Coaching Team Course followed by the PKA Instructor Development Course, all of this is to ensure the continuation of our high standards.
