There is so much more to the East Midlands Kickboxing and the PKA than simply attending your classes every week, through similar courses ran in the past, many have gone on to make huge personal achievements.

We are now offering anyone at Red Belt level and above, over the age of 14 years old, the opportunity to attend, complete and become an exclusive member of the Coaching Team Course in your area. Black Belt Grading Date Announced - Sunday 21st March, 2010

The date has been set for the next PKA black belt grading, Sunday the 21st of March 2010. If you are currently at brown belt level and considering attending this time around then speak to your instructor as soon as possible. The 2nd Dan gradings will also be held later in the day although exact times are yet to be confirmed. As mentioned please let your instructor know if you wish to grade with plenty of notice as arrangements need to be in place at least one week before-hand. Ask your instructor about costs and application forms etc. Also one other thing...Start preparing now, it won't be easy!

Fighting For Wishes - When You Wish Upon A Star Charity Event
Christmas Fight Night To Help Terminally Ill Children - 22nd December 2009
On Tuesday the 22nd of December Area Instructor Joanne Maguire will be hosting a kickboxing fight night to help raise money for the fantastic childrens charity 'When You Wish Upon A Star'. This event will comprise of ten pre-arranged light continuous fights and names are being taken right now. Joanne has assured us all that excessive contact will not be allowed and even though this is a charity event, fighters will be disqualified for breaking this rule. This is to ensure that the night is competitive but also fun and enjoyable for all who attend. Winners trophies are also up for grabs.

Entry is £5.00 per person for fighters helpers and spectators, and limited edition T-Shirts will be available to buy at £14.99 each. Self Defence Seminar - Non Members Welcome*
Saturday 4th April 2009 - 11.30am to 1.30pm

We will shortly be running a two hour Self Defence training seminar for both members and non – members alike, as this is not strictly martial arts we have decided to allow you to bring with you your friends, family or work colleagues, no martial arts experience is necessary and they need not worry about fitness as this will not involve excessive physical training. On this two hour seminar you will learn basic self defence skills that will give you the knowledge and confidence to help you protect yourself and those close to you from harm if you ever had to. The techniques you will be shown are all easy to remember and more importantly easy to pull off which is vital in a real life self defence situation. Below are the topics we will cover.....
Section One – Conflict Avoidance / Keeping Out of Harms Way
Simple do’s and dont’s to help stop a potential attack before it even begins
Section Two – Vital Point Striking / Understanding the Human Body
Learn which body parts are vulnerable no matter what size your opponent is
Section Three – Simple Grab, Hold and Choke Defence Techniques
Simple and effective breakaway techniques that will buy you enough time to either
make your escape or fight back depending on the level of threat experienced.
As mentioned no previous martial arts experience is required so feel free to invite your friends along, you can wear your kickboxing uniform and they should wear loose comfortable unrestrictive clothing. This class will be taught by myself and Joanne Harrison so you will benefit from both male and female perspectives. You will also be provided with a four page handout to take home so you can practice what you have learnt. All the details regarding the date, the time and the venue are printed on the reverse of this page, if you would like more information please speak to either myself or Jo over the next few weeks and remember you can bring your Mum, Dad, Sister or neighbour as any non PKA members are very welcome to attend.

Pre - Brown & Black Belt Grading Course *
Saturday 21st March 2009 - 11.00am to 1.00pm

All green belt students, and above, are eligible to attend this preparation course that must be completed before you grade for your brown belt grading, current brown belts must attend in advance of taking the black belt grading. On this course you will be taught and checked on all the grading sequences required for either the brown or black belt gradings, you will also shown correct technique on more advanced moves and will be tested on your fitness and stamina. This 2 Hour course has proven very popular in the past due to the level of detail that the sequences are broken down into, don’t leave it until the last minute to attend, complete it early and get your licence book stamped in readiness.
